4966Bulky Items Drop-Off Days

Friday, April 13, 2018, from 4 PM - 7 PM
Saturday, April 14, 2018,  from 10 AM - 4 PM
at Davis Waste Removal 2727 2nd Street

This service is available to Davis residents only. ID may be required; No charge to participate. Commercial haulers and business materials will not be accepted.

In July 2016, the current system of collecting yard material loose in the street was changed to a hybrid system of yard material piles and organics carts. The Organics Program gave all residents and businesses in Davis access to food scrap recycling service through Davis Waste Removal. This organics program will help the City achieve its 75% waste diversion goal.

In order to allow an easy and safe disposal option for residents, Davis Waste Removal now accepts sharps waste for free drop-off at their CRV redemption center during buyback hours, Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

For safety, all sharps must be placed in puncture proof containers before bringing them to Davis Waste Removal for proper disposal. Sharps are only accepted during the CRV redemption hours and may not be dropped off after hours.

Before bringing their used sharps waste to Davis Waste Removal, residents must place their sharps waste in a red sharps container or a rigid plastic container, such as bleach or detergent bottles. The lid of the container should be tightly closed and taped shut with "Sharps Waste" written on the outside of the container. Davis Waste Removal employees will receive the sealed sharps container and place it in their sharps kiosk for proper disposal.

Home-generated sharps waste accepted for drop-off includes hypodermic needles, pen needles, intravenous needles, lancets, and other devices that are used to penetrate the skin for the delivery of medications derived from a household or multifamily residence.

Used syringes and other sharps waste in sealed containers have been and continue to be accepted at the Yolo County Central Landfill every Friday and Saturday during the weekly household hazardous waste drop-off from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Unused medications are not accepted through this program but may be brought to Davis Compounding Solutions, 1205 Drake Drive, Suite C. and to the Yolo County Central Landfill hazardous waste drop-off.
