IT'S COOL TO RECYCLE: MIXED PAPER: newspaper, magazines, glossy inserts, junk mail, phone books, copy/computer paper, carbonless/NCR fax paper, envelopes (plastic and hazy glassine windows are okay), colored paper, paper grocery bags, scrap paper, cereal/dry food boxes, egg cartons, wrapping paper, unwaxed paper cups/plates, toilet paper tubes, paper towel tubes, vellum paper. Staples are okay. Remove all paper-clips and clasps. Books: cut off bindings from paperback or hardback books. NO: juice/milk cartons, frozen food boxes, paper towels, tissues, plastic/wax coated paper, photographs, blueprint paper, mylar paper, carbon paper or thermal fax paper. PLASTIC: rinse plastic bottles. Discard lids and caps. Look for the #1 (PETE) and #2 (HDPE) symbols on the bottom of your plastic containers. OK: all colors and shapes #1 and #2 containers. CRV containers. NO: plastic bags, film or wrap. METAL CANS: rinse cans and lids. Paper labels are okay. Recycle aluminum cans,tin/steel can, aluminum foil, empty steel aerosol cans, empty paint cans, pie plates,cake pans, metal lids and caps. NO: scrap metals (use the DWR drop-off facility at 2727 Second St., open 24 hours a day) GLASS: rinse jars and bottles. Paper labels are okay. Recycle metal lids and caps with other metals. Recycle glass bottles, glass jars, beer bottles and wine bottles, all colors are OK. CORRUGATED CARDBOARD: cardboard must be flattened and stacked.
